Who do Arsenal need to win the premier league this season?

Like many other Arsenal fans, I was highly optimistic about this season and believed we had our best chance since the invincibles of winning the league. However, after being outplayed by West Ham on the opening day and not performing at our best against Crystal Palace last weekend, I believe we are still a few signings short of retaining the premier league.

Karim Benzema

Career Appearances : 449
Career Goals : 214

The Frenchman is renowned for his goalscoring expertise and is seen as the signing that Arsenal have to make. After consistently reaching 20+ goals in the last 5 years, Benzema could be the man to lead the line in Arsenal's attack and would potentially help improve Ozil's performances due to their link up play in the past. Arsene Wenger has been given the green light from the board to sign the Frenchman for a fee in the region of £50million and with Benitez's idea to play Cristiano Ronaldo as striker next year, this move seems highly possible. However, with time running out to bring Benzema in, Arsenal fans will be hoping that a fee is agreed rather soon.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Career Appearances : 203
Career Goals : 16

The Polish international was instrumental in Sevilla's 4th place finish last season and their Europa League success for which he was rewarded with a place in the La Liga Team of the Season. Despite Coquelin's fantastic performances in the second half of last season, what he showed on Sunday away at Palace was that he can be too rash at times as he was lucky not to be sent off. The Polish defensive midfielder made 82 tackles last campaign (3rd highest in the league) and his reading of the game was equally impressive as he managed to rack up 97 interceptions in 32 games. Where Krychowiak excels however is in his aerial battle success rate of 73% where he won 109 aerial duels. This would make him a vital addition to an Arsenal squad that had conceded a total of 13 headed goals last campaign. With a £22million bid currently being considered for the Polish international, I believe that this is a signing that Arsenal must make because Francis Coquelin has the potential to pick up a fair few suspensions during the 2015/16 campaign.

I do not believe that Arsenal will need to purchase another centre back, however if one does end up getting severely injured, I would like to see Wenger dip into the January transfer market.

Overall if Wenger brings in these two players, I do believe that Arsenal can mount a serious title challenge this season.
