Who does your club need to sign in January? - BPL Bottom Half

Everton

Central Midfielder

Will Hughes made his debut for Derby
at the young age of 16 in a 3-2 defeat
to Peterborough United
Everton are a great side with quality players however, they will be massively disappointed to only be 11th as with the poor season that teams like Man United and Chelsea are having, I'd have expected to see Everton challenging for top four however, throwing away leads has been there downfall. 20 year old Will Hughes got injured in the 1st game of the 2015/16 season and is likely to be out for another month but despite his injury, I feel as though he would be a great signing for Everton. With Gareth Barry ageing, there will come a point when he can't play 90 minutes every week so Will Hughes would slot in perfectly in the midfield. With the way he plays, the England U21 international would suit Everton and he's exactly the type of player that attacking players want to play with. He's been described as a 'flair player' who uses pinpoint through balls and mazy runs to create space in the final third for his teammates and playing with the likes of Lukaku and Barkley, there will no doubt be plenty of goals in this Everton side if he signs. The quality of players at Everton is likely to tempt the 20 year old to sign however, whether he'll leave is unknown,

Watford

Defensive Midfielder

Mario Suarez won 6 trophies in 5 seasons at Atletico
\Madrid: Europa League 2011/12, UEFA Super Cup 2010 and
2012, Copa Del Rey 2011/12, La Liga 2013/14 and the
Supercopa de Espana 2014.
Watford have had an outstanding season so far and look as though they'll comfortably stay up this year due to the goals coming in from one of the league's most deadly partnership; Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney. However, after getting dominated by Southampton last week, I feel as though they need a holding midfielder to help them get results in games when they need to sit back and grind out a result. I believe Mario Suarez would be a perfect fit for them due to his previous playing experience under manager Quique Sanchez Florez so he'll know what is expected of him and will be able to cope with his hard working regime. He would bring a wealth of experience to the Watford squad due to his impressive performances in both European competitions as well as domestic competitions. He has been influential in Fiorentina's strong season so far as they sit in 4th place just 6 points off top but with how good the Premier League has become and the fact that he'll be playing with one of the best strike partnerships in the league, I'm sure he could be tempted to move to one of the most impressive sides of the season.

West Bromwich Albion

Centre-Back

34 year old Veteran Defender Nemanja Vidic has won
18 trophies and picked up 22 individual awards during
his illustrious career.
Who West Brom can afford to buy in the window probably relies on whether Saido Berahino is sold or not however one man they will not have to pay anything for is free agent Nemanja Vidic. Vidic is one of the best centre backs to have played in the Premier League and his partnership with Rio Ferdinand was arguably the best that the Premier League has seen. With them at the back, United won 5 Premier Leagues and a Champions League in 8 years whilst winning another 9 trophies in the same time. Vidic would bring plenty to West Brom and he is just the leader at the back that the Baggies need and I'm sure he would be influential in helping younger players improve as well as being the motivator on the pitch. He hasn't played any football this year due to a hernia operation so it would take him a few weeks to get him up to match fitness. Despite that, with what he would bring to the team, surely it would be worth the reward that Pulis would get for having a player like Vidic in the team. He has been linked with a move to the MLS but maybe the thought of playing in the Premier League again would attract him to West Brom and if Pulis gets him, he would no doubt be one of the best signings in January.

Chelsea

Striker

Pato has been linked with a move to the
Premier League every year since 2007,
will he finally get his move?
In all honesty, no one would have expected current holders Chelsea to sit in 14th place in January and they were lucky to get a point at home to Everton on Saturday courtesy of a 98th minute offside goal by John Terry. Well Guus Hiddink has already announced that no players will be leaving in January so all eyes are on Chelsea to see who they bring in to get them out of the bottom half. It is reported that Alexandre Pato will be that man with him expected to join the club in 2-3 years according to his current manager. The holders have started to play better since Mourinho's departure but still they look like half the side they were last year at times. Pato would add a lot of pace and power to Chelsea's attack so in games when they need to play the long ball and go more direct, this is where I'd expect to see them utilise the Brazilian. The striker had a great season last year getting 26 goals in all competitions and if he can repeat this form in the Premier League, he could help Chelsea finish in the top half. In all honesty though, it seems as though not paying the players their ridiculous wages and giving them a kick up the backside is the only way to get these players motivated right now.

Bournemouth

Already Signed

Well the problem Eddie Howe really needed to address in this window was the striker problem but they've already addressed that with the signings of Juan Iturbe, Lewis Grabban and Benik Afobe, the latter showing his great finishing abilities on his debut against Norwich. Juan Iturbe is tipped to be the next Messi so there's no doubt that he'll be an exciting prospect to watch develop over the second half of the season. Lewis Grabban returned to Bournemouth for a fee of £7million showing how overpriced Premier League players can be and I'm sure this is why Eddie Howe has said he's worried with how much his club has spent. Although bringing in 3 exciting prospects is great, Eddie Howe will have a headache later in the season when he has Wilson as well as Murray asking for first team football but if they stay in the Premier League like I hope they will, I'm sure the manager will be glad to have the problem.

Norwich City

Striker

Naismith's only  Premier League goals this season came in
Everton's 3-1 win at home to Chelsea, he scored all 3.
Norwich have struggled for goals this season and if you're going to stay up in the Premier League, you need to consistently score goals and the acquisition of Steven Naismith would surely boost their chances of finding that consistency in front of goal. The Scottish Striker may not be technically brilliant but one thing you can guarantee with him is a hard working performance in every game. He's exactly the type of player you need in a team as work ethic is contagious and can break down any team which is what Chelsea discovered earlier in the season. It is reported that this deal will be completed in a day or two and what a signing it will be for Norwich as he will no doubt be a crucial part in their fight for survival. Will it be enough though to save Norwich? I personally think they'll go down.

Newcastle United

Striker

Veteran Striker Peter Crouch has played for 10 clubs in
his career, I'm sure an 11th wouldn't hurt?
If I was a manager of a club needing a striker, the first player I'd look at is Peter Crouch. He's had a great career so far winning 3 trophies and has a great record for England scoring 22 goals in 42 games and is definitely someone Newcastle should look at. I don't think they'll sign Berahino and with Austin moving to Southampton, I think Crouch is the best player they could acquire. With Shelvey already being signed and Newcastle being linked with Andros Townsend, it looks as though the scouting team have finally realised that signing proven Premier League players is better than just buying foreign players, it's about time they realised that. The signing of the giant Englishman would allow Newcastle to play a different style as it would mean Newcastle could play wider and whip the early crosses into the middle because you know Crouch will win 9/10 and score the majority. He would work well with Ayoze Perez when playing direct football as well due to his ability to flick the ball on and hold up the play brilliant. Due to his experience and knowledge of the English game, he could be a great mentor to Aleksander Mitrovic and could teach him plenty, from hold up play to finishing which would have a positive effect on Newcastle in the future. This signing just needs to happen in my opinion.

Swansea City

De Guzman helped Swansea win the League Cup in
2012/13 contributing 3 goals in 6 games
It's been a massive shock to me to see Swansea sit in 18th so far this season and they really need to step up now because 1 win in the last 10 Premier League games really isn't good enough. I went to watch Swansea play Leicester and Arsenal last season and the creativity of the midfielders and the high tempo they played at was key to them winning both those matches. The fans at Swansea are brilliant and deserve better than what they're paying large amounts of money to watch. If losing 4-2 to Sunderland has not made the players realise that they need to step up their game then I'm not sure what will. To bring that spark back into midfield and more creativity, I think Swansea need Dutch attacking midfielder Jonathan De Guzman to return to Wales. He was also a threat during his two-year loan at the Swans and I feel as though him coming back, will help the team find the freedom that they used to play with. Experienced manager Francesco Guidolin is set to join Swansea in the next few days and hopefully he can get these players to push to the maximum because this team should not be in a relegation fight but if they keep playing like they are, that's what they'll find themselves in.

Sunderland

Centre-Back

Lamine Kone has scored 7 goals in 124 appearances for
Lorient.
It's the same old story for Sunderland fans, poor first half of the season and then they somehow manage to pull through and stay up and if they continue to get results like their 4-2 win away at Swansea however, the 4-1 loss away to Spurs on Saturday makes me think that this could be the year they drop down. They didn't play well at all and the only positives were Jordan Pickford's good first half and Van Aanholt's goal. These Sunderland players don't even seem to know how to adapt if the game plan isn't working and I think that's shocking and at the end of the day the coaches and the players all have to take the blame. The signing of Lamine Kone has been on and off throughout this window and it looks as though he'll cost Sunderland around £5million. He's very good in the air and will win the majority of his aerial battles however, he is suspect to make errors and whether he'll adapt to the pace of the Premier League I'm not sure. It's hard to judge whether Allardyce is making these signings because he's scouted the players or whether he's just taking a risk due to the poor quality of players at Sunderland right now, only time will tell.

Aston Villa

Right-Back

Want-away right-back Mathieu Debuchy is desperate
to leave the Gunners in this window after falling out
of favour.
Mathieu Debuchy might still be Arsenal's first choice right-back if he didn't get injured early into the 2014/15 season. However, as an Arsenal fan I have no complaints as Hector Bellerin is a much better player and I think there is no chance Debuchy will get back in the starting XI. Debuchy is a very attacking      full-back and I think that's what will benefit Villa as the Frenchman is very good at crossing and will find his man 9/10 times which would allow Villa to play Rudy Gestede a lot more and Gestede barely misses headers so I think this move will be a positive boost for all parties. Will it keep Villa up though, I'm not sure there's any chance of staying up however, with what Leicester pulled off last year, I'm not going to write them off completely yet.
